Surrendering A Pet

At the Animal Protective Foundation (APF), we understand that life can sometimes bring unexpected changes, and rehoming your pet may become necessary. Our goal is to make this process as smooth and compassionate as possible, while ensuring your pet finds the best possible home. Below, we outline the rehoming options available to you, along with the steps you can take.

Surrendering to the APF: Dog & Cat Intake Forms

Open Admission Shelter

The APF is an open admission shelter, which means we accept all animals regardless of breed, age, or condition. If you need to surrender your pet, we will do our best to find them a new home. However, it’s important to understand that several factors—such as your pet’s temperament, health, and our available kennel space—impact our ability to do so.

Start by filling out the Dog Intake Form or Cat Intake Form. This helps us understand your pet’s history, behavior, and medical needs.

After submitting the form, a member of our team will contact you to schedule a surrender appointment. Please do not bring your pet to the shelter without an appointment.
